Double redirect
[edit]I dream of horses, you changed the target to another redirect. Avoid creation of double-redirects. Jay (talk) 08:38, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Jay Fixed quite easily. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 08:39, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses: Did you mean you are going to fix it? Jay (talk) 08:48, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Jay No, I meant that I had already fixed it. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 09:13, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses: I am missing something. What did you fix? The redirect is still pointing to a redirect. Jay (talk) 10:06, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Jay I'm not sure what's going on. I've redirected to Editing, which is not a redirect. Does this not appear on your end? I'm thinking perhaps you need to troubleshoot. If you can excuse the unsolicited advice, try to purge your cache and see what happens. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 11:26, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- @I dream of horses: you redirected what to Editing? See the history of Associate editor which shows you redirected Associate editor to Editor, and I believe this is the discussion we are having. Can you provide me the diff of your change, so I can better understand what fix you are referring to? I don't see anything else in your user contributions (it only has the change I talked about). Jay (talk) 12:40, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Jay I redirected this page to Editor. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 22:07, 9 February 2022 (UTC)

- I am reverting your change until we have better clarity. If your intention was to target to Editing, which was the previous target and which did not have support at the RfD, then I would like to know your reasoning. Jay (talk) 18:24, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
- @Jay Because all the links I've disambiguated mean to link to Editing; it's burdensome to WikiGnomes like myself change all the current links and continue to do so whenever someone links this redirect in perpetuity. Per WP:DPL, "If all or most of the links refer to one meaning of the article name, consider whether that article may actually be a suitable primary topic.", and per WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT, "The title of the primary topic article may be different from the ambiguous term." The latter wikilink also suggests actually writing an article as well as redirects.
- It's understandable that you'd be unaware that there's an overarching consensus to not add disambiguation links in mainspace that a no-consensus RfD wouldn't be able to override. It's hard to keep track of these things. I'll go ahead and link to Editor-in-chief, which is also mentioned in the RfD. I dream of horses (Contribs) (Talk) 22:19, 9 February 2022 (UTC)
